North Balwyn Iaido

Training at the North Balwyn Iaido club is focused on developing a high level of martial knowledge and skill through the practice of Japanese sword arts. Beginners first establish basic skills through practicing the All Japan Kendo Federation’s Seitei Iaido forms, supplemented with the study of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu. Advanced students may be invited to participate in the advanced practice of koryu Iai, kenjutsu, and other weapon forms.

Training in the dojo is principle oriented, and the main focus is on building a comprehensive knowledge of the physiology, anatomy, and dynamics underlying traditional Japanese weapons systems. Prospective students should have an interest in exploring these aspects of traditional Japanese martial arts, and be committed to developing the skills required to apply these principles in the training environment.
