Thanks to the VKR community for their patience and support as the new VKR Committee has come on board.
There are quite a few upcoming events and updates to provide to the VKR community, so please see below for important announcements.
1. VKR Special General Meeting
As per previous distributed notice, an SGM will be held at 4pm, Sunday 16 May 2021 via Google Meet. This will be used to consider the proposed new VKR Rules of Association and the VKR Fees for 2021-22.
Please encourage your members to attend this important meeting.
2. VKR Committee of Management (Delegates) Meeting
A VKR Committee of Management meeting will be held on Sunday 30 May 2021 via Google Meet. An Agenda and Papers will be distributed prior to the meeting.
Key topics on the agenda will include:
• Proposal for a VKR online membership database/system
• Update on VKC arrangements for 2021
• Proposed terms of reference and election process for the next term of the Victorian Kendo Technical Committee

3. Victorian Kendo Championships
The 2021 Victorian Kendo Championships will be held on 14-15 August 2021 at Victoria University, Footscray Campus.
An Expression of Interest to understand likely participant and team numbers has been sent to Kendo club representatives. EOI responses are required by 17 May 2021.
Registration and event details are planned to be sent to Kendo members in late June/early July, with registrations to be due in mid-late July.
4. Victorian Kendo Squad – Coaching Team Selection
Details regarding the application process for the Victorian Coaching Team to lead the Victorian campaign for the 2022 Australian Kendo Championships will be distributed soon. Applications are likely to be due in early June 2021.
5. VKR Membership Fees
Membership Fees for the 2021-22 Membership Year are to be considered at the Special General Meeting on 16 May.
Once Fees are confirmed, the application form will be distributed to clubs.
Membership forms and fees will be due with the VKR Registrar by 15 June 2021.
6. July Grading – Kendo
The VKR had previously announced that a Kendo Grading may be held for 6th-3rd Kyu in July 2021, subject to potential AKR changes to ‘time-in-grade’ policy. As the relevant policy changes have not yet been considered at the national level, VKR (in consultation with the VKTC) is not currently expecting to conduct a Kendo grading in July.
7. July Grading – Iaido/Jodo
The VKR intends to hold grading exams for Iaido and Jodo in late July. Registration details will be distributed to Iaido and Jodo clubs in due course.
